And So It Begins...
I woke up yesterday really convinced that I was pregnant. I had had the sense that I was all week and I even bought a home pregnancy test kit (one that had two sticks). My plan was to test on Feb 28 - one day after the day my period was due to start. But yesterday I couldn't wait, so I peed on the stick, placed it on the counter and left the room for a few minutes. I came back about 5 minutes later and was surprised to find the line in the window. So I set it back down, left the bathroom for about 10 minutes and then went back to check again. The line was still there.
Oh. My. Goodness.
We weren't actively trying to make a baby but we weren't really trying to prevent one either. So like my mother and sister before me, I got pregnant pretty darned quickly without much trying.
Beau was already at church helping with the parking lot thing so I decided I would wait a couple more days to tell him. I'd pee on the other stick in a few days and if that one came up positive too, then I'd show him both. That idea lasted about as long as the church service. We were hanging out for a luncheon when I leaned over and whispered in his ear, "I peed on the stick this morning."
He looked at me in confusion.
"I think I'm pregnant," I said, to be clear.
He just looked at me and then this big smile broke out and he leaned in to kiss me.
When we got home from the luncheon, I showed him the stick. And then I peed on the second one to see what would happen. Of course, the line appeared.
So we're having a baby in mid-November, by my calculations.
Jaynee, when you asked if I was pregnant when we were at your house for Spamalot, I said, "Not today." That may not have been true after all.
